10th Episcopal District WMS Makes Headlines In A Big WayTHE JOURNEY TO THE 15th QUADRENNIAL SESSIONBy L.C. McBride Mrs. Dorothy Jackson Ingram, Macedonia AME Church Supervisor, along with the Tenth District Women’s Missionary Society (WMS), are very much excited over being host for the 15th Quadrennial Session. There is also justification for their excitement. First, this is the First Quadrennial Session held in the state of Texas . Second , it is also the first Quadrennial Session held in the New Millennium. They know that the journey will not be easy, so they have chosen for a theme; “Praying Our Way To and Through.” They have many focal points, such as, hospitality, transportation, expert guides for dinning, sight seeing tours, and many more. But their main focus is on the Constitution and By-Laws, the foremost purpose of the meeting. This meeting is designed to discuss issues and guidelines, and to elect officers to positions of leadership and decision making that will guide and direct them through the next four years. So to help ease the tension on their incoming guest, and themselves, the Macedonia AME Church WMS decided that if they would greet their guest with a great big Texas “HOWDEE,”and show them a “BIG BUNCH” of Texas Hospitality that might take the edge off some of their tension. There is going to be some thought-provoking statements made at some point during this meeting that they might do well to remember their theme. With all these thought in mind, they also plan to journey from Dallas, Texas to Cameron , Texas to visit the burial place of Mrs. Lucy Hughes, who was the first President of the Women’s Missionary Society on the Connectional Level. In spite of everything, the Magnificent Macedonia AME Church WMS still find time to support their own, Cheryl Jones, who presently serves as Assistant Recording Secretary on the Connectional Level. She has now decided to take a giant step up to Connectional Recording Secretary. Because of her valiant move and self confidence, the Magnificent Tenth say; “ You Go Girl, We Got Your Back.”
